Making the Most of Your PSP

So you want to join the PSP Hacking Community? What you need to know to get started is spread accross dozens of online forums. When I was new, I spent way too much time piecing together the necessary information. In proceeding series of posts, I will do my best to help you get the most out of your PSP by laying out the most important information in one place. There are some risks involved, but the rewards are great. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to comment. If you want to dive headfirst, visit QJ.net.

A Little History:
The Playstation Portable: Perhaps the best handheld gaming device ever created.
Unfortunately, due to the popularity of its primary competitor (Nintendo's DS), an unfavorable UMD format, and in light of Sony's 2006 failed viral marketing campaign (Sony Marketing Ploy), the PSP has only managed moderate success.
Regardless, the Sony PSP is a truly amazing multi-media device. You can play games, watch movies, listen to music, surf the internet, and much more. But that is just scratching the surface. It's not too hard to imagine that the PSP became the amateur programmers (Hackers, if you will) dream machine. The potential for customization is nearly limitless. Think about playing your favorite PSX games on your PSP, accessing peer-to-peer networks on your WiFi, or using your PSP as a Universal Remote.
Since April, 2005, hackers have been exploiting the PSP. Needless to say, Sony would rather prevent you from customizing your PSP. An average owner might not notice the silent war between Sony programmers and the Hackers (Hackers find loopholes and exploits, Sony patches firmware and upgrades hardware on new PSPs, Hackers find loopholes, etc.), but the saga is lengthy and complicated.
